Former NFL Quarterback Anthony Wright Shot By His Girlfriend's Ex During An Argument

Former professional footballer, Anthony Wright was shot by his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, inflicting severe injuries after a feud on Sunday, July 1.

Police said William "Willie" Moses Hooker Jr., 47, was wanted for the attack with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury to the victim at a residence in Concord.

The Concord Police Department said in a press release that Wright and Hooker got into a verbal altercation after Hooker showed up to drop off his six-year-old daughter with his ex-girlfriend.

Police said: "An argument ensued and shots were fired." They also said officers responded to the emergency call reporting gunshots at 12:49 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found the former athlete lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Officials rushed Wright to the hospital for emergency surgery and as of now, he remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hooker, who is described as a 5 ft. 11 inches tall man, allegedly fled the scene in a black 2015 Honda Accord 4-door.

Wright, the former University of South Carolina quarterback, played eight seasons in the NFL with Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and the New York Giants with which he won a Super Bowl in 2008.
