Former Hell's Kitchen contestant and the New Jersey chef, Jessica Vogel died on Monday, 30th July. She was aged 34.

John Michael Keyser, Vogel's fiance, confirmed her death to NorthJersey.com where he revealed she had been treated for the inflammatory bowel disease colitis at a southern New Jersey hospital.

According to an obituary published on Wednesday in Star Ledger, the chef is survived by her mother, Donna Bruchmann, father Mark Vogel, and sister Caitlin Johnstone. The obituary described the chef as "fearless when it came to working, never backing down from a challenge." It added,

She wants the message left behind not to be 'sex, drugs, and Foie Gras,' but rather the importance of appreciating your talents, always working hard to improve, but to never forget that it is the loving heart that truly changes the world.

Vogel competed in the Fox reality series in 2014 which she finished at 12th place. The chef later appeared on the Food Network show Cutthroat Kitchen. She served as the executive chef for the Black Rebel Burger in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Vogel's family released a statement after her death saying,

She recently committed to living a better life and had graduated from an inpatient rehabilitation program with hopes of regaining control of her life. Unfortunately, the damage done over the years was too great and she died, like she lived, a fighter.

Vogel was considered to be an alcoholic which might be the reason she suffered the bowel inflammation, however, the exact reason surrounding her death is yet to come. She wasn't an active social media user; her last Instagram post was in May when she posted a rainbow without a caption.
