Singer and songwriter Dolly Parton's brother and longtime songwriting partner Floyd Parton died at 61.

According to his obituary published on Tennessee's Atchley Funeral Home website, Floyd pa s sed away on Thursday, 6th December. The obituary said:

A renaissance man, Floyd was a man of many talents and areas of knowledge. He was an avid outdoorsman and had an abundant knowledge of nature as well as being an incredible cook.

The late songwriter and his sister of 72-year-old, Floyd wrote many famous songs together including Rockin' Years, and Nickels and Dimes among others.

Talking to People, Rachel, the youngest Parton sibling told how their mother encouraged them to sing at home and at church.

Floyd was born in 1957 in Tennessee to Avie Lee Caroline and Robert Lee Parton Sr. Other than Dolly, Floyd had 10 other siblings including Stella Parton, Randy Parton, Rachel Dennison. People reported his brother Larry Parton died just four days after his birth in 1955.

Floyd is survived by his siblings; Dolly, Stella, Willandeene, Freida, Ca s sie, Coy Denver, David, Bobby, and Randy.
