BCBG Founder And Renowned Fashion Icon Max Azria Died Aged 70

• Fashion designer and entrepreneur Max Azria died at the age of 70.
• He died on Monday, May 6, in a Houston hospital after a long battle with lung cancer.
• He spent his early life in France where he also started his fashion designing work before relocating to the USA in 1981.
• Eight years after moving to America, Azria founded his own clothing brand BCBGMAXAZRIA which later went on to open 500 stores worldwide.

Fashion designer and BCBG founder, Max Azria has died. The legendary fashion icon died on Monday, May 6, in a Houston hospital at the age of 70.

According to the WWD's report, the Tunisian-born designer and entrepreneur died of lung cancer. He was raised in France where he designed women's clothing in Paris for 11 years before relocating to the United States.

Azria moved to America in 1981, and eight years later, he established his fashion line BCBGMAXAZRIA in 1989.

The brand grew wide within a short period, and around 500 stores were opened worldwide where many of his designs were picked by the major department stores as well.

President of the California Fashion Association, Ilse Metchek told of Azria as:

Maz had the vision of a superstar. He reached for the moon. He established a brand that was worldwide.

In recent years, the company suffered a huge loss and started declining. In 2017, it filed for bankruptcy, and it was taken over by Marquee Brands.

Late Azria is survived by his wife, Lubov Azria and his six children; son Michael, and daughters Marine, Agnes, Chloe, Anais, and Joyce with her.
