Facebook Selfie Showing A Murder Weapon Sentenced A Murderer To 7-Year Imprisonment In Canada

A Canadian woman has been found guilty of the murder of her friend after police discovered the weapon in a picture she shared on her social media.

Police arrested Cheyenne Rose Antoine after discovering her Facebook photo - pleaded guilty on Monday, 15 January to killing her friend Brittney Gargol in March 2015.

Gargol, then 18, was found choked to death near a landfill in Saskatoon, with Antoine's belt near her body.

The 21-year-old Antoine admitted she killed Gargol but said she doesn't remember strangling her. In the night the murder took place, they both had been drinking, and they got into an argument before Antoine killed her best friend, she said.

Before the murder took place, they Gargol shared their photo, both smiling, on her Facebook. In the photo, it can be seen, Antoine wearing a large belt which was used to kill Gargol and later found beside her body.

Antoine had commented underneath the photo after Gargol's death, where she had prayed for her soul.

Antoine was charged with manslaughter and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
