Etan Cohen is an American screenwriter and film director who has written the scripts to Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, Tropic Thunder and Men in Black 3. He has won a Comedy Festival Award for Best Short Film for My Wife Is Retarded at US Comedy Arts Festival.

Etan Cohen was born on March 14, 1974, in Israel, to a Jewish family and was raised by his parents in Efrat, and later in Sharon, Ma s sachusetts.

He has written on the episode, "Failure Is Not a Factory-Installed Option" of the animated series, American Dad!

In 2008, he co-wrote the action-comedy film, Tropic Thunder, along with Justin Theroux and Ben Stiller. He is also the screenwriter of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008) and Men in Black 3 (2012).

Etan wrote and directed the mystery crime film, Holmes & Watson, in 2018. The film earned him a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Director.

He received a Comedy Festival Award for Best Short Film for My Wife Is Retarded at US Comedy Arts Festival in 2007.
