The authorities in El Salvador have confirmed that the former President has reached a deal to plead guilty for bribing a judicial official to leak information in a civil case against him.
In a legal doc u ment, prosecutors claimed that Tony would face an abbreviated judicial process and might be given a two years prison sentence, substituted by community service.
Tony’s defense had sought the deal, and on Wednesday, prosecutors announced that they had agreed. They also added that a lawyer and a former judge would also plead guilty in the case.
Well, this would be the second time that Tony had been acknowledged wrongdoing in his 2004 to 2009 administration.
The 54 years old former president is serving a ten years sentence after pleading guilty to diverting over $300 million in public funds in favor of his businesses and third parties.
