A 17-year-old Dutch girl, who wrote a book about her mental struggle after being raped and molested as a child was euthanized in the Netherlands. Euthanasia is legal in the Netherlands. The girl, Noa Pothoven, opted to end her life on Sunday, 2nd June with the help of an end of life clinic.

According to the reports, the Dutch government allows a person to be euthanized after a doctor signs off on the decision after concluding the patient's suffering is unbearable.

Pothoven took to her Instagram, which happens to be her last sayings before her death writing she decided to quit. She wrote:

I deliberated for quite a while whether or not I should share this, but decided to do it anyway. Maybe this comes as a surprise to some, given my posts about hospitalization, but my plan has been there for a long time and is not impulsive.

Noa, who was frequently molested and raped since her early childhood, said she had been battling the mental illness, and now she was "drained." She also said she felt she was never living but was just "surviving." She wrote:

I have quit eating and drinking for a while now and after many discussions and evaluations, it was decided to let me go because my suffering is unbearable.

As per The Sun's report, Pothoven was molested when she was 11 and 12 and was raped at 14.
