British musician, DJ, and record producer, Andrew Weatherall have died. The well-known producer of Scream's Screamadelica is 56 years old.

His longtime publicist announced his death in a statement on Monday, 17th of February, in which he revealed the music artist died in hospital on Monday morning due to pulmonary embolism.

The statement said,

We're deeply sorry to announce that Andrew Weatherall, the noted DJ and musician pa s sed away in the early hours of this morning, Monday 17th February 2020, at Whipps Cross Hospital, London.

It continued,

The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism. He was being treated in hospital but unfortunately, the blood clot reached his heart. His death was swift and peaceful.

Born in Windsor, United Kingdon on April 6, 1963, Weatherall started his career as a club DJ and went on to found the record label Boy's Own Recording and the production Bocca Juniors.

Paid their tribute on social media after the death

Musicians, including Tim Burgess and Dave Haslam, paid their tribute on social media after the death news was announced.

Burgess wrote on Twitter that he was "Shocked and saddened to hear that cosmic traveler Andrew Weatherall has left the building. Always a pleasure to meet up with him and share good times." While Haslam wrote, "Weatherall was one of the greatest, sweetest, funniest guys I've ever met."
