Nicolas Roeg, having been a cinematographer, broke fresh ground (first alongside Donald Cammell) by creating a lyrical, literary "unstuck in time" editing technique that allowed characters to exist in flash forward/flash back cinematic spaces. I'm a fan of both genres, but calling the highly versatile Nicolas Roeg a "SCIENCE FICTION AND HORROR DIRECTOR" damns him with faint praise.

He was married twice. First, he married Susan Stephen in 1957 with whom he had four children; Waldo Roeg, Nico Roeg, Sholto Roeg, and Luc Roeg. He divorced his first wife in 1977. Later in 1982, he married Theresa Russell and had two children; Max Roeg, and Statten Roeg before getting divorced.

He married his third wife, Harriet Harper in 2005 and remained married until his death. His wife Harriet Harper and six children survive the late director.
