DC Comics Expells Editor Eddie Berganza Following Sexual Misconduct Allegations

DC Entertainment and Warner Bros have fired its comic book editor Eddie Berganza on Monday midst of sexual misconduct allegations.

Berganza, who had been suspended after the extensive report into the allegations by three women was published by BuzzFeed last Friday.

 

The company released a statement to the Hollywood Reporter on Monday notifying his termination from the company. The statement reads:

Warner Bros and DC Entertainment have terminated the employment of DC Comics Group Editor Eddie Berganza. We are committed to eradicating hara s sment and ensuring that all employees, as well as our freelance community, are aware of our policies, are comfortable reporting any concerns and feel supported by our Company.

Liz Gehrlein Marsham, one of the three women accusing him, claimed that he forcefully kissed her at a bar in December 2006 when she worked for the company for around three weeks. She also alleged him of groping her.

BuzzFeed reported, editor Joan Hilty claimed that Berganza ''grabbed her and repeatedly tried to pull her in for a kiss” in early 2000. BuzzFeed has also hinted that the unnamed person in Hilty's 2014's article about sexism in the comics industry was Berganza.

Berganza was demoted in 2012, two years later the former DC editor Janelle Asselin and the group of women jointly reported a complaint to HR about Berganza. Berganza was then alleged that he was involved in a horrible act of kissing a woman at the WonderCon entertainment convention.
