American Dancer Danny Tidwell Dies in a Car Accident

  • Danny Tidwell, the first runner-up of So You Think You Can Dance finalist, died on Friday, March 6.
  • Tidwell died in a car accident. He was 35. 
  • He had competed on season 3 of the dance reality show in 2007, becoming the first runner-up.

Danny Tidwell, an American dancer who competed on season 3 of So You Think You Can Dance ending up as a runner-up, has died. He was 35.

As for the cause of death, sources have reported that Tidwell pa s sed away after being involved in a car accident on Friday, March 6.

His brother and fellow dancer, Travis Wall, shared a statement on Instagram on Saturday, March 7, to announce Tidwell's death.

The statement reads,

Yesterday I lost a brother. And we all lost a gift. I’m not ready. But I never think I will be. Because I can’t believe this is real. I can’t believe you’re gone. You were more than my brother. You were my inspiration. I idolized you growing up. Wanted to dance just like you. Wanted to be you! I wish I could jump in your arms again like we used to when we were kids and onstage dancing.

My heart is broken. Yesterday I lost a brother . And we all lost a gift. I’m not ready. But I never think I will be. Because I can’t believe this is real. I can’t believe you’re gone. You were more than my brother. You were my inspiration. I idolized you growing up. Wanted to dance just like you. Wanted to be you! We will all remember the joy and pa s sion you brought to everyone you came in contact with through out your journey. A journey cut to short. You are a legend. And I love you so much Danny. Tidwell competed on So You Think You Can Dance season 3 in 2007, ending up as the runner-up of the show.

Tidwell, who was originally from Norfolk, Virginia, was 22 years old when he competed on the dance reality show.

His brother competed in the second season of 'So You Think You Can Dance'  and also came in second place.

A funeral service has been set for the late dancer. Rest in Peace Danny Tidwell!
