Kenny Rogers, a country music singer who was active in the music industry for six decades, has died. He was 81.

His death was announced via his official Twitter account on Saturday, March 21. According to the tweet, Rogers pa s sed away peacefully on Friday night at 10:25 PM surrounded by his family at home under the care of hospice.

As for the cause of death, it's been revealed that Rogers died of natural causes. The statement on his tweet reads,

The Rogers family is sad to announce that Kenny Rogers pa s sed away last night at 10:25 PM at the age of 81. Rogers pa s sed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.

The Grammy Award-winning singer had notably released multi-genre hits including, “Lady,” “Lucille," “We’ve Got Tonight,” and his duet with Dolly Parton, “Islands in the Stream.”

In 1985, Rogers sang and featured in the music video for the charity single We Are the World. One of his popular solo albums was The Gambler which he had released in 1978.

He had received three Grammy Awards, six Country Music Awards and eight Academy of Country Music Awards throughout his career. He was also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013.
