97 Died In China In One Day From Coronavirus Infection-Over 900 Have Already Lost Their Lives From The Deadly Disease

  • Over 900 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus infection in China since its outbreak in late 2019.
  • China's National Health Commission confirmed 97 people died from the fatal infection on February 9 alone.

Epidemic coronavirus has been sweeping through China, specifically in Wuhan for over a month, and the death toll has exceeded 900 as of Monday, 9th February.

China's National Health Commission confirmed 97 people died from the fatal infection on February 9 alone, making Sunday the deadliest day so far. By the end of Sunday, the death toll reached 908 in China, most of them from Wuhan and the surrounding Hubei province.

As of now, a total of 40,171 confirmed cases of coronavirus infections have been reported across China. Globally, at least 25 countries have confirmed coronavirus infection. Following the outbreak, many countries have evacuated their citizens from Hubei while several major airlines have suspended their flights to and from the Asian Powerhouse.

Meanwhile, two deaths have been recorded outside China so far; one in Hong Kong and one in the Philippines. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO chief, noted that there have been some "concerning instances" of the spread of the virus among the public who have no travel history to China. Moreover, he urged the countries to be prepared for the possible infection.

Coronavirus emerged in the Wuhan city of Hubei province in late 2019.
