CNN Host Don Lemon's Sister, 58, Dead After Accidental Drowning

CNN host Don Lemon mourning the death of his elder sister, multiple sources confirmed.

The 51-year-old television host Lemon's elder sister L'Tanya 'Leisa' Lemon Grimes, 58, pa s sed away after drowning into a pond in Livington Paris, Denham Springs, outside of Baton Rouge, Wednesday afternoon.

CNN released a statement on behalf of Lemon's family where they said:

The Lemon/Grimes family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers at this time. Our family has suffered the tragic loss of L'Tanya 'Leisa' Lemon Grimes.

The statement continues,

We are leaning on each other for strength at this time. We appreciate privacy as we grieve the loss of our loved one.

Lemon also tributed his sister in a Tweet on Thursday posting his sister's photo where he wrote,

Thanks everyone for your words of sympathy. Please keep my family in your prayers. Leisa was my oldest sister & partner in crime growing up. Always had my back. #RIPbigSis

Police arrived the scene at around 4 pm on Wednesday following reports a woman had fallen into neighborhood pond. Police reported that Grimes may have fallen into the water while fishing.

Lemon didn't host the Thursday night's episode of CNN Tonight following his sister's tragic death.
