American country music singer-songwriter Chris Lane proposed the Bachelor alum Lauren Bushnell on Sunday, 16th June, in the backyard of her family’s Oregon home.

Describing the special moment with PEOPLE, Chris claimed that he knew Lauren would not want some elaborate crazy proposal, so he decided to keep it pretty casual. He then asked her parents for different places in Portland where he could potentially take her to.

However, after a lot of thought, Chris decided to propose her at the family cookout. Chris revealed that his new fiancée appreciated the simplicity of proposing her in her parents’ backyard.

Chris added that he was firstly worried about proposing her on the Father’s Day as it might not be the best movie, but it was Lauren’s father, Dave, who convinced and made him sure that it could only add to his Father’s Day.

He said:

Shout out to Lauren’s parents, Dave and Kris, for having the yard in tip-top shape!

Chris revealed that he stepped in fresh dog poop with his bare feet when he was about to propose.

Explaining the beautiful moment, Chris wrote a song for her titled “Big, Big Plans.” In the third verse of the song, he popped out the question. Even though he was pretty sure that Lauren would say YES, he still felt nervous.

Chris revealed that the moment after she accepted the proposal was an explosion of excitement, love, and pure joy.

Chris bought a 3.5-carat emerald-cut diamond after going shopping with Lauren around five months ago just for fun.

The “I Don’t Know About You” singer Chris, who will crisscross the country this summer with Brad Paisley on his 2019 world tour, leaves much of the wedding planning to his new fiancée even though she calls herself the worst planner.
