China Calls it a ‘Cold War Mentality’ to US Extended Nuclear Policy

On Friday, Washington published a doc u ment stating to expand its nuclear capabilities. China, on the other hand, has reacted on the doc u ment and urged the United States to drop its cold war mentality.

In a press release from Chinese territory, the ministry of defense in China stated:

Peace and development are irreversible global trends. The United States, the country that owns the world's largest nuclear arsenal, should take the initiative to follow the trend instead of going against it

Earlier, Russia also reviewed U.S nuclear policy doc u ment as confrontational and a s sured that it would increase the risk of controversy and miscalculation between the two countries.

Some American officials stated after the U.S expands its own low-yield capabilities it would deter Russia from using nuclear weapons.

China who has accepted to have adopted a restrained attitude when it comes to the development of nuclear weapon has claimed to have kept its forces to the minimum.

The ministry of China has released a statement on its website stating:

We hope that the United States will abandon its Cold War mentality, earnestly a s sume its special disarmament responsibilities, correctly understand China's strategic intentions and objectively view China's national defense and military build-up

Also, the Chinese government has called on the U.S to work together in becoming a stabilizing factor in Sino-U.S. relations.
