Early Life
Dion was born on March 30, 1968, in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada. She is the daughter born to Thérèse Dion (her mother) and Adhémar Dion (her father). Her father was a butcher, whereas her mother was a homemaker.
As far her ethnicity, she is of French-Canadian descent holding a Canadian nationality. She is the youngest of the 14 children in the family. She grew up in a Roman Catholic background in a poor but a happy family.

Dion got engaged to René in 1991. They finally tied their knot on December 17, 1994, at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec. They renewed their wedding vows on January 5, 2000, in Las Vegas.
Dion decided to use in-vitro fertilization because of years of failed attempts to conceive. She had two small operations in May 2000, at a fertility clinic in New York to improve her chances of conceiving.
Dion gave birth to their first child, a son named René -Charles Angelil on January 25, 2001. Her husband made an announcement in May 2010 that she was 14 weeks pregnant with twins after the sixth treatment of in-vitro fertilization.
The couple welcomed the twins on October 23, 2010, at 11:11 and 11:12 am respectively, at St. May's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. The twins were named Eddy, after her favorite French songwriter, Eddy Marnay, who had also produced her first five albums, and Nelson, after former South African President Nelson Mandela.
Unfortunately, her husband, Rene died on January 14, 2016. He died from complications of cancer. Her brother also died of cancer at 59, two days later.
