Boxer Victor Ortiz Arrested Over Rape And Charged With Three Felonies

Former Welterweight Champion Victor Ortiz has been arrested and charged with raping a woman earlier this year. The former Dancing with the Stars participant Ortiz was scheduled to fight this weekend.
After months of investigation, authorities issued a warrant for Ortiz's arrest on Monday. According to Ventura County Superior Court records, a woman contacted the Oxnard Police Department and alleged the boxer of a s saulting her sexually.
Police reported Ortiz, a habitat Tarzana, neighborhood of Los Angeles turned himself in to Ventura County Sheriffs on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities started investigating Ortiz after his alleged victim contacted them on March 19 claiming she was sexually a s saulted "inside a residence in the city of Oxnard.
Ortiz has been held on suspicion of forcible rape as well as forcible oral copulation and forcible digital penetration and his bail amount has been set to $100,000.
In 2015, Ortiz was arrested for a s sault with a weapon at a Kenny Chesney concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. He later pled guilty to battery charge as part of a plea deal and was released on probation.
He was again taken into custody for DUI. TMZ reported, he pled guilty to a misdemeanor DUI and sentenced to 8 days in county jail with 3 years of probation.
His arrest comes just five days before his bout against John Molina Jr., a former world title challenger. The fight is scheduled to occur at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif. Ortiz is currently out on bail, however, it is not clear whether the fight will go ahead or not.
