American football coach, Bill Belichick is the head coach of the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He started his coaching career in 1975 and became the defensive coordinator for New York Giants head coach Bill Parcells by 1985.

He is the longest-tenured active head coach in the NFL and currently third all-time in regular season coaching wins in the NFL at 251.

Early Life 

Bill Belichick was born on the 16th of April, 1952 in Nashville, Tennessee, United States of America. He was born to his parents Jeannette and Steve Belichick. His parents raised him in Annapolis, Maryland. His father was an assistant football coach at the United States Naval Academy.

Bill often learned football with his father. He has cited his father as one of the most important football mentors.

Education Of Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick attended Annapolis High School and completed his schooling from there in 1970. After that, he enrolled at Phillips Academy for a postgraduate year. He was honored by the school 40 years later. The school inducted him into its Athletics Hall of Honor in 2011.

Subsequently, Bill attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1975.

Early Career 

After his graduation, Bill Belichick’s career took off after he started to work as an assistant to Baltimore head coach Ted Marchibroda. A year after that in 1976, he joined the Detroit Lions as their assistant special team coach. Bill Belichick began a twelve-year stint with the New York Giants alongside head coach Ray Perkins as a defensive assistant in 1979.

Bill was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 1991 to 1995. After that, he served as an assistant coach and defensive back coach with the Patriots for the 1996 season.

Career Breakthrough

In 1997, Bill Belichick was named the Jets' interim head coach. After the Patriots and Jets reached an agreement that allowed Parcells to coach the Jets, Bill Belichick became the team’s assistant head coach in 1999. Bill was named the AP Coach of the Year for the 2003, 2007, and 2010 seasons. He has coached the Patriots to seven Super Bowl Appearances since then.

Bill Belichick is the NFL’s longest-tenured active head coach. Currently, Bill ranks 4th all-time in regular season coaching wins in the NFL with 236, and first in playoff coaching wins with 23. Bill Belichick is one of the only five head coaches with four or more titles in NFL history.

Bill Belichick's Marriage Life

 Bill Belichick was first married to Debby Clarke. But, the marriage could not last long and they divorced in the summer of 2006. They started living separately in 2004 however, the divorce was finalized in 2006.

Bill was accused of maintaining a relationship with former Giants receptionist Sharon Shenocca. He was also seen with Linda Holiday several times in Arizona during the week leading up to Super Bowl XLVII.  Bill Belichick has three children with his former wife Debby.
