Brazilian singer and the godmother of Samba, Beth Carvalho died at the age of 72 due to sepsis in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday, 30th April.
According to the statement issued by publicist Afonso Carvalho, Beth died at 5:33 pm (2233 GMT) surrounded with love of her family and friends.
Though the statement did not reveal the exact reason for her death, the Pro-Cardiac Hospital told that she had failed to a generalized infection (sepsis) via WhatsApp message.
Sepsis is one of the life-threatening condition in which its own immune system attacks the body.
Beth had been restricted to a wheelchair during her last few years because of her back problems. However, she had continued to perform entertaining Brazilian fans with hits songs like Coisinha do Pai or Father’s Little Thing.
Beth, who had a professional career span of a half-century, was regarded as the symbol of the Brazilian samba school Mangueira. She had recorded more than 30 albums and even won two Latin Grammy awards among many others.
