The beloved actor, who was best known for his roles in the 1993 film Gettysburg, Invincible, and Thirteen Days star, died on Wednesday, 5th February.
His longtime partner, Geraldine Newman, revealed his death confirming the cause of death as a heart attack.
Born and raised in New York City, Conway was in his early thirties, when he got a breakthrough role of Roland Weary in 1972 film Slaughterhouse-Five. The film, based on the eponymous novel, tells the tale of a World War II soldier who is abducted by aliens.
His role in the movie went on to win a number of other roles in films and television series such as HBO's Oz and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He also made his guest appearance as Jonas Stern in The Good Wife.
Conway also tried his hand as a director in the 1987 independent film The Sun and the Moon.
A number of his fans have been paying their tribute to the late actor on social media and twitter since his death news was revealed.
Conway is survived by his wife,, Mila Burnette.
