Baseball Player Troy Tulowitzki Announced Retirement After 13 Long Seasons In MLB

Former Colorado Rockies All-Star Shortstop, Troy Tulowitzki has announced his retirement from Major League Baseball after thirteen long seasons. He announced his retirement on Thursday, 25th July.

Tulowitzki released a statement announcing his retirement, in which he said,

I wanted to take this opportunity to announce my retirement as a Major League Baseball player.

He added,

 For as long as I can remember, my dream was to compete at the highest level as a Major League Baseball Player ...to wear a big league uniform and play hard for my teammates and the fans. I will forever be grateful for every day that I've had to live out my dream. It has been an absolute honor.

Tulowitzki debuted in MLB with the Rockies in 2006-he finished as runner-up in Rookie of the Year voting in 2007. He spent first nine seasons of MLB with the Rockies. He made to the All-Star game five times while he was with the Rockies.

In 2015 season, Tulowitzki traded to Toronto and played for three seasons when he played 131 games in 2016 alone. He appeared in only 66 games in 2017 due to his ankle injury.

Furthermore, he stayed out of the competition in 2018 due to his injuries and slumps and in January 2019, he signed with New York Yankees after being released by the Toronto Blue Jays.

He played five games for Yankees this season where he got two hits in 11 at-bats. According to the reports, despite his retirement, Tulowitzki will still earn $18 million over the next two season because of his contract with the Blue Jays.
