Indianapolis police are now investigating the death of a child who had been in a hot car on 18th May, Saturday as the temperature raised into the 80s.

Emergency personnel was called to the AutoZone parking lot after the baby was found unresponsive at around 4:45 p.m. in an SUV.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department revealed that the EMS transported the child to Riley (Hospital for Children). Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, they could not save the child.

Homicide detectives took the mother of the baby for interrogating. Till this time, no charges have been filed.

The police released a statement saying:

If it is ruled a homicide a formal brief will follow.

On Monday, an autopsy will be conducted by the Marion County Coroner’s Office to determine the exact reason behind the death of the child.

Saturday was the hottest day so far this year in the city as the temperature rose to 85 degrees.
