American basketball player D.J. Cooper has been banned from playing after his drug test revealed he was pregnant.
Cooper, who stepped away from AS Monaco in 2018 for "family reasons," was expected to play with the Bosnian national team as a naturalized player later that year. However, he couldn't make a move; instead, he was banned from FIBA for two-year.
He was suspended from the game after he failed the drug test, however, it wasn't a performance-enhancing drug. According to Eurohoops.net, Cooper provided another person's urine for the doping test.
As per some online tabloids, Cooper had to undergo an official doping test to join the Bosnian team as a naturalized player. The test revealed, the urine sample he provided resulted in the presence of gHC, the hormone found in a pregnant woman.
Meanwhile, a recently released report showed that the urine belonged to his girlfriend, who was unaware she was pregnant at that time.
After the incident, FIBA immediately suspended him for fraud that will keep him away from the game until June 20, 2020.
