Amanda Gorman is an American poet and activist best known for her best-selling poetry books "The One for Whom Food Is Not Enough," "The Hill We Climb: Poems," and "Change Sings: A Children's Anthem." She sang her poem "The Hill We Climb" at President Joe Biden's inauguration. 

How Old is Amanda Gorman? 

Amanda Sarah Chase Gorman was one of a set of twin girls born in Los Angeles, California, in 1998 to high school teacher Joan Wicks and her absentee partner. She is around 22–23 years old at the time of this writing. 

At an early age, Amanda was diagnosed with a form of auditory processing disorder and a speech impediment disorder. Despite this, she was an avid reader and writer. She attended New Roads private school in Santa Monica, LA. A recipient of the Milken Family Foundation scholarship, Amanda studied sociology at Harvard College, graduating with honors in 2020.

Amanda is one of two twin sisters. Her twin sister is Gabrielle Gorman, a poet, and filmmaker in her own right.

Amanda Gorman: Poetry Books & Biden Inauguration Poem

Amanda Gorman is a poet and activist. Her work tackles such issues as gender, race, oppression, feminism, and marginalization. In 2014, Gorman was chosen as the first National Youth Poet Laureate. 

Gorman has published nearly half a dozen poetry books to date, including 2015's "The One for Whom Food Is Not Enough," and 2021's "The Hill We Climb: An Inaugural Poem for the Country" and "Change Sings: A Children's Anthem."

On January 20, 2021, Gorman read her poem "The Hill We Climb" during the inauguration ceremony of Joe Biden into the White House, becoming the youngest poet in history to read at a Presidential inauguration ceremony. Consequently, her two upcoming poem books "The Hill We Climb" and "Change Sings"landed atop the Amazon best-seller list.
