Alicia Silverstone is an American actress, well known for her debut movie appearance in The Crush. The movie won the 1994 MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance. She is a vegan and has endorsed PETA activities. Silverstone has also published two nutrition books.
Early life and Education
Alicia Silverstone was born on 4th October 1976 in San Francisco, California. She was born to her British parents; Deirdre who is Scottish former Pan Am flight attendant and her father, Monty Silverstone who is an English, real estate agent. She is White in ethnicity/race and holds an American nationality.
Silverstone was raised in Hillsborough, California. Silverstone started her career as a model at the age of six and starred in a TV commercial for Domino's Pizza. She joined Crocker Middle School and later attended San Mateo High School.
Career
Silverstone first made her appearance on the American television show, The Wonder Years as Fred Savage, on 8 Jan 1992 in the episode, Road Test.
Later she debuted in an erotic thriller film, The Crush, where she portrayed the leading role; that of a teenager who is determined to ruin an older man after he spurns her affections. She grabbed two awards at the 1994 MTV Movie Awards including the Best Breakthrough Performance category.
Silverstone also worked television movies during her early career, including Cool and the Crazy, Torch Song, and Scattered Dreams.
After her work in the movie, The Crush, Marty Callner chose Silverstone for a role in a music video while he was directing for the rock band, Aerosmith, called Cryin.
Simultaneously, Alicia was cast in two music videos; Crazy, and 'Amazing,' for the same band, Aerosmith. The video was a huge success for both Alicia and the band. After watching Alicia Silverstone in three music videos, filmmaker, Amy Heckerling decided to rope her in the comedy movie Clueless, where she portrayed Cherilyn 'Cher' Horowitz.
Eventually, Clueless turned out be a huge success and a critics favorite during 1995 Summer, which led Silverstone to sign a deal with Columbia-TriStar worth $8 to $ 10 million. As included in the package, she also got a three-year first look deal for her own production company called First Kiss Productions.
Alicia Silverstone has won the Best Female Performance and Most Desirable Female award at the 1996 MTV Movie Awards.
Silverstone did three movies in the year 1995, Hideaway, The Babysitter, and Le Nouveau Monde. The French drama about Americans LE Noveau monde saw her portrayal of the love interest as a French boy.
Later in 1997, the first film by Silverstone's production company, Excess Baggage, was released. In the crime comedy, she portrayed a neglected young woman who kidnaps herself in order to get her father's attention.
The movie grossed about US $14.5 million in North America. Later, Alicia portrayed as the female lead in the romantic comedy Blast from the Past. The film was directed by Hugh Wilson and also starred Christopher Walken, Sissy Spacek, and Brendan Fraser.

2000
In the year 2000, Alicia Silverstone appeared in the film adaptation of William Shakespeare's play, the movie was called Love's Labour's Lost and was directed by Kenneth Branagh, Alicia portrayed the Princess of France.
She also did the voice of Sharon Spitz, as the lead part in the Canadian animated television Braceface, from 2001-2003.
Alicia also signed the 2003 NBC television series Miss Match, portraying the character of Katie Fix, a Los Angeles matrimonial attorney. The show was called off after the release of eleventh episodes.
However, she achieved a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress- Television Series or Musical or Comedy. In the year 2004, she portrayed as a news reporter in Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, opposite Freddie Prinze, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. The movie made a gross collection of Us $181 million.
Silverstone has also made her appearance with Queen Latifah as one of the stylists in the comedy Beauty Shop in 2005. She played in the dramatic thriller, Silence Becomes you.

Most of Silverstone's appearances in the year 2010 have been in theater and independent productions. In 2010, Silverstone re-played her portrayal in Time Stands Still, along with Laura Linney in its Broadway production.
Alicia Silverstone played the character of a teacher from a Manhattan private-school senior in the teen romantic drama, The Art of Getting By in 2011, which was aired at the Sundance Film Festival.
She also made a guest appearance in Children Hospital in 2011 and was offered a four-episode long role in the series Suburgatory in 2012, along with her castmate from Clueless, Jeremi Sisto.
In 2012, Silverstone reunited with the director of movie, Clueless, Amy Heckerling in the independent movie Vamps, portraying one of the two vampires who are in love that could risk their immortality. She was offered with the role after the director saw her in Time Stands Still.
In 2015, the gorgeous actress featured in the New York production Of Good Stock, a play about three sisters who unite at their family home on a summer weekend. She also worked in the romantic comedy Who Gets the Dog? in 2016, playing opposite to Ryan Kwanten.

Alicia Silverstone is a married woman. She married her longtime boyfriend, Christopher Jarecki, a rock musician. The couple got married on 11 June 2005, in a beachfront ceremony at Lake Tahoe. The couple first met in 1997, outside a movie theatre, and they dated for eight years before getting married.
The couple got engaged a year before their marriage where Silverstone's husband proposed her with an engagement which belonged to his grandmother. Since their marriage, the couple is living a happy life in their Los Angeles house which has an organic vegetable garden.
In May 2011, the couple welcomed their first baby boy, Bear Blu Jarecki.
Activism and Social Work
The gorgeous actress is also known for being an environmentalist and animal activist. In 1998, Silverstone became a vegan, after she attended animal rights meeting, saying:
''I realized that I was the problem... I was an animal lover who was eating animals.''
Silverstone also said that she had to struggle with childhood vegetarianism, as she mentioned:
''At eight years old it's hard to stick to your guns- and so through the years I was always starting and stopping trying to be a vegetarian.''
