• African saxophone legend Manu Dibango has died of COVID-19. He was 86.
• He pa s sed away in a hospital in Paris.
• A  funeral service for the late musician will be held in strict privacy.

Manu Dibango, an African saxophone legend best known for his blend of jazz, funk and traditional styles, has died of COVID-19. He was 86.

His death was confined on his Facebook page. The post read that the Cameroonian musician pa s sed away in a hospital in Paris after contracting novel coronavirus.

According to the post, a funeral service for the late musician will be held in strict privacy. A tribute to his memory is also set to be organized.

Born in 1933 in Douala, Cameroon, Dibango attended high school in France where he learned many musical instruments like first the piano, then saxophone.

Dibango enjoyed a long and successful career, collaborating with many popular music stars Fela Kuti, Hugh Masekela and Herbie Hanc* * k.

Dibango is survived by his wife Marie-Josee (aka Coco) and his three children Georgia Dibango, Marva Dibango and Michel Dibango.

His death news comes less than a week after television talk show host Andy Cohen shared with his fans that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
