A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a pregnant Texas woman and her mother earlier April. Authorities found Janette Quiroz, 37, dead and her daughter, Bernadette Jean Quiroz, 18, outside a San Antonio apartment complex.

Bernadette, who was a 7-month pregnant, was rushed to hospital where she died hours later. Bernadette's baby, Tabitha Bernadette Quiroz was delivered through a cesarian section, however, she also died three days later.

The local media reported the 14-year-old boy was charged with the capital murder in connection with the deaths on Tuesday. The boy's identity hasn't been made public.

The teen appeared in Bexar County Juvenile District Court on Wednesday, 29th May that decided he would remain in the juvenile detention center in which he has been since May 3 on a separated aggravated robbery charge.

According to the Express-News reports, Judge Arcelia Trevino told the boy,

Right now this court is not releasing you. You are a danger to yourself or another human being.

Prosecutors would have 30 days to file the petition to proceed the case with the capital murder charges. The Bexar County District Attorney Joe D. Gonzalez said,

The law does not allow the state to seek the death penalty on someone as young as 14. Typically you don’t see someone as young as 14 being subject to adult certification but the law does allow it in extreme circ u mstances and certainly this would be one of them.

The defendant's attorney hasn't opened her mouth on the case.
