"The Residents" Co-Founder And Primary Composer Hardy Fox Dies At 73

The well-known musician and co-founder of The Residents, Hardy Fox died following a long battle with brain cancer. He was 73.

The experimental band confirmed the death of the legendary musician in a statement which read:

It is with great sorrow and regrets that The Cryptic Corporation announces the pa s sing of longtime a s sociate, Hardy Fox.

The statement continued,

As president of the corporation from 1982-2016, the company benefited from hardy's instinct for leadership and direction, but his true value came from his longtime a s sociation with The Residents.

Back in September, Fox announced his own death on his Facebook account. He wrote "Our hearts are heavy but let us celebrate our brother, our friend, Hardy Fox. From the desk of Hardy Fox:" on his post.

Born in Texas in 1945, Hardy moved to San Francisco in the 60s and met a group of avant-garde musicians. The group collaborated and released their first double single Santa Dog in 1972. The group later released their first full-length  LP Meet the Residents.

Fox anonymously served as a primary composer and producer on over 30 Residents albums before he retired from the group in 2015. Besides, Fox also recorded as a solo artist under several names like Charles Bobuck, COmbo de Mechanico, Sonido de la Noche, TAR, Chuck, and the likes.
