Actress Allison Mack, known as Chloe Sullivan on CW's Smallville, was arrested on Friday and charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and forced labor conspiracy, multiple sources confirmed.
According to CNN, Mark was arrested for her alleged involvement with Nxivm, an organization that claims to offers personal and professional development seminars, but, in reality, was a pyramid scheme in which some of the recruits were abused both ''sexually and for their labor, to the defendants' benefit.''
FBI had arrested the leader of the group, Keith Raniere, in Mexico in March. The 35-year-old actress is accused of helping Keith to recruit women who would ultimately be exploited.
Prosecutors blamed Mr. Raniere commanded a ''slave and master'' system in his group where the female members were forced to have sex with him on Friday's hearing. The prosecutors also claimed that there is a pyramid scheme in Nxivm where members pay ''thousands of dollars'' for courses.
Ms. Mack pleaded not guilty to all the charges in a Brooklyn federal court on Friday evening, however, the judge ordered her to be held in custody. Her next hearing is scheduled to be on Monday, 23rd April.
