Television Host Alex Trebek Won Daytime Emmy Two Months After Revealing 4th Stage Cancer Diagnosis

Famous television host Alex Trebek has clinched a Daytime Emmy Awards two months after he was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. On Sunday night, the Jeopardy host was awarded the Best Game Show Host award.

This was the 78-year-old Canadian-American television personality Trebek's sixth Emmy win. Moreover, he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.

Sunday's Awards' other attractions were General Hospital that collected five awards, biggest of the night followed by The Young and the Restless that won three awards and Valerie's Home Cooking that clinched two.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, the Emmy winner told backstage:

The reception I got from the audience was extremely special, very touching. We all know what’s going on in my life and I alluded to that in my remarks and I’ve been very blessed to discover how many people our show has influenced in their lives.

Trebek added,

Jeopardy! has become a special institution in Americana. And it has been a force for good, a force for knowledge, a force for the best kind of reality television if you think about it. Anybody can succeed, anybody can win a lot of money. Just ask James Holzhauer.

On Saturday, Trebek participated at the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network walk at the LA Zoo which was motived to raise money to fund pancreatic cancer research. He was the keynote speaker of the event where he said despite the grave disease, "there is hope."

On March 6, Trebek announced his diagnosis with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in a video. In the short video posted on his official Twitter, he told his fans to support him through his battle. Despite the low survival rate of the disease, Trebek pledged to fight the chancer.
