For Colored Girls Playwright, Ntozake Shange Dies At 70 Years
- Playwriter and novelist Ntozake Shange died on Saturday, 27th October.

- Her sister, Ifa Bayeza, announced her death where she revealed that she died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Bowie Md.
- Her family also announced the tragic news on her official Twitter account on Saturday.
Renowned playwright and novelist, Ntozake Shange is no more! The author, who was best known as a writer of For Colored Girls, died on Saturday 27th October. Shange was 70.
Her sister Ifa Bayeza said Shange died peacefully in her sleep Saturday morning in her home in Bowie, Md. Bayeza said,
Zake was a woman of extravagance and flourish, and she left quickly without suffering. It's a huge loss for the world. I don't think there's a day on the planet when there's not a young woman who discovers herself through the words of my sister.

Savannah Shange, late playwright's daughter told,
She spoke for, and in fact embodied, the ongoing struggle of black women and girls to live with dignity and respect in the context of systematic racism, sexism, and oppression.
Star Tribune reported that Shange's actual cause of death is yet to be revealed, however, she is known to have suffered multiple strokes in recent years. It further said, her health had been ameliorating.
Shange is survived by her daughter, Savannah Shange, sisters Ifa Bayeza, Bisa Williams, brother Paul T. Williams, and her granddaughter, Harriet Shange-Watkins.
