Legendary actress Peggy McCay, known for her role as matriarch Caroline Brady on Days of Our Lives, has died. McCay's spokesperson Sharyn Berg confirmed her death and announced she died due to natural causes on Wednesday, 10th October.
Berg released a statement saying:
Yes, it is a very sad day. She was a great lady!
Fellow Days of Our Lives co-star Diedre Hall confirmed her death and expressed her grief on her demise on her facebook where she wrote: "She was a friend, an activist, and a real scrapper!"
She wrote,
I remember meeting her at the bedside of a dear, very ill friend. I back her up as she ferociously took on doctors and nurses to make sure he had the very best care.

McCay played Caroline Brady on the NBC soap opera. She also worked in the television series Hawaiian Eye, General Hospital and the 1991 film The Trials of Rosie O'Neill.
Celebrities and several co-stars paid their tribute and their sorrow on social media. Co-star Jen Lilley wrote "Days of Our Lives, a real grandmother."

Peggy born as the only child of Catherine McCay and Michael McCay. Her father owned a construction company which she and her mother took over after her father's sudden death.
Peggy completed her schooling from Saint Walburga's Convent School and graduated from Barnard College in 1949.
