Longtime television actor, Frank Parker, best known for playing the role of Grandpa Shawn Brady on Days of Our Lives has pa s sed away on September 16 in Vacaville, California.

According to his obituary published in The Reporter, the veteran actor died from the complications due to Parkinson's disease and dementia. Frank was 79 years.

Starting from the 60s, Parker's acting career spanned for over five decades. He first worked in small roles in the television and films including the soap opera General Hospital and The Young and the Restless before he landed his most recognizing role as Shawn Brady on Days in 1983.

The actor retired in 2008 after his character died where he gave up his oxygen mask to save his son during an airplane hijacking. At the time he retired, it was reported that his health began to decline which caused him to give up acting for good.

Frank's family described the late actor as "a people person" who "touched many lives and was loved by everyone." in an obituary published on Legacy.com. His family wrote,

He could light up a room with his singing voice and was known to burst into song at any moment. He was a ham and loved the spotlight. Above all, he was the most supportive, generous, kind man and father. Frank loved his family.

Actor Frank Parker is survived by his twin daughters; Danielle Dallas and Lindsay Kyle from his first marriage to Nola Donelle Rajcok. His first daughter with Nola, Candace Donelle, died in 1998 in a car accident. He is also survived by his second wife, Mary Jean Dunning Garofalo whom he married in 2005.
