'Bomb Cyclone' In Southeast-2700 Flights Canceled Following Rare Snowfall In Florida

A ma s sive winter storm hit the Southeastern United States on Wednesday, and the Floridians enjoyed the rare sight of snowfall. 

National airlines have canceled over 2,700 flights scheduled for Thursday after the forecaster alerted ''bomb cyclone'' in the Atlantic coast and Southern cities like Tallaha s see, Savannah, and Charleston.

The US is currently on the 10th day of record-breaking frigid temperatures since the Christmas where forecasters have said a severe pressure drop will lead to an explosive winter storm in the southeastern USA. 

The National Weather Service said,

Arctic air ma s s will remain entrenched over the eastern two-thirds of the country through the end of the week.

The NWS added,

Very cold temperatures and dangerously cold wind chills expected

BBC reported a major storm with strong winds, sleet, snow, and rain is expected to develop along the southeastern coast on Thursday and Friday. 

The historic cold in the US has killed at least 17 people over the past few days, including two homeless people in Houston. Michigan police said that a 96-year-old woman, who was recently diagnosed with dementia, was found dead in a playground. Apparently, she was found frozen to death after wandering outside in a robe and slippers.
