WBIS-TV

WBIS-TV is the former call signs of WPXN-TV from the year 1996-1997. It ran with the call signs of WUHF and WNYC-TV from the year 1961-1962 and 1962-1996 respectively. After the sale of WNYC-TV, channel 31 reappeared in the name of WBIS-TV. It was branded as S+. WBIS-TV offered the business news during day and professional sports news and games at night. It used to bring business news from Dow Jones from 6am to 6pm and sports program running from 6 pm to 6 am. It also aimed to air the team coverage of New York Knicks and New York Rangers and has been able to cover a game of New York Islander, New Jersey Devils and New Jersey Nets. The network also had aired large amount of programming from Fox Sports Net such as Big 12 Conference and Pacific-10 Conference sports, night baseball games on weekly Thursday and Fox Sports News as well as other shows of the then outdoor Life Network and Speedvision networks on weekends. The channel had the ambitious plan but the station failed to attract both viewers and advertising revenues. Later due to loss, it was sold to Paxson Communications for $225 million and operated as WPXN-TV. It is still in the operation with the name today.
