Sharyn Alfonsi is an American journalist and correspondent for “60 Minutes” and “60 Minutes Sports.” She also appeared on 60 Minutes on CBS in 2015. She debuted on 60 Minutes on March 1, 2015.

She started her career in broadcast journalism at KHBS-TV in Fort Smith, Arkansas. There, she served as a news reporter, weekend weather anchor, photographer and editor from 1994-1995.

In May 2013, Alfonsi gave the commencement address at the Meek School of Journalism and New Media at the University of Mississippi. Her speech was named by NPR as one of The Best Commencement Speeches Ever.

With her skill and hard work she then joined KIRO-TV in Washington where she served as a reporter and a substitute anchor. During her job at KIRO-TV, she covered the World Trade Organization riots. She again worked as a reporter and anchor at WBZ-TV where she covered the ongoing Catholic church scandal, The Station nightclub fire and the Michael Skakel trial.

Besides that, the popular journalist also joined the CBS News based in New York city and anchored the CBS evening shows. Occasionally she anchored Good Morning America and World News.

In 2012, she left ABC News in order to return back to CBS News and joined the cast of “60 Minutes Sports.” She also made her debut appearance on 60 Minutes with an investigative story about Fraud after the Hurricane Sandy.
