The rapper, producer, and actor, David Banner has won several reputable awards for his song Get Like Me, appearing, Chris Brown. In 2012, he launched his first official mixtape, Sex, Drugs, and Video Games, 2012.

Early Life and Education

The rapper, David Banner was born as David Crump Banner, on April 11, 1974, in Durham North Carolina, US. He is the son of Zeno and Carolyn Crump. He moved to Jackson, Mississippi with his family and spent his childhood. Regarding his ethnicity and nationality, David is a Black American. 

David graduated from Provine High School in 1992, in Jackson. After accomplished his schooling, he attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. He also worked as president of the Student Government Association for the University and received a bachelor’s degree in business.

After that, David enrolled in the University of Eastern Shore to pursue a master’s degree in education but he wasn’t able to complete his education due to the compromise between music career and study.

Unfortunately, David’s father died on June 17, 2007.

Professional Career

David Banner started his music career in 1994. His stage name "David Banner" is taken from the TV series, The Incredible Hulk. David and manager, Scott Johnson decided with Universal Records subsidiary, SRC Records, after a s sessing various offers.

David produced T.I.’s single, ‘Rubberband Man’ in 2003. The song was listed on #30 on the Hot 100, #15 on the R&B chart, and #11 on the Rap chart. In the same year, he also launched his first major album, Mississippi: The Album.

In the year 2005, David released his third major-label album, Certified. The album’s debut song was "Ain't Got Nothing." On July 15, 2008, he launched his fourth major-label album, The Greatest Story Ever Told and the album’s first single titled "9mm" appeared Akon, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Wayne.

In November 2006, Banner received a Visionary Award by the National Black Caucus of the State Legislature in recognition of his work after Hurricane Katrina.

Personal Life

David Banner, age 43, is neither married nor is witnessed with any lady who could be believed as his girlfriend. However, he was once said to be in a relationship with actress, comedian, model, and singer, Tichina Arnold in 2008.

But, the couple didn’t confirm the rumor. Currently, he is single, but he has disclosed information regarding his ideal woman in an interview with xoNecole's editor, Kiah McBride in November 2015.

“It is very important for me to say that I’ve done enough degrading of our women myself. So, in no way is this downgrading any other rappers or saying what any other black man should do, this is for me. I have some making up to do. I have forgotten myself. With “Play,” even though I really enjoyed it and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that [song] in its proper place, there is no balance.”

 

Banner also revealed the reason behind him being unmarried in the same interview.

”No, I’m not married. I just want to be the man that most Black women want to marry. I want to be a Black man that stands strong. I’m not perfect, but [I want to be the man] women want to marry and that kids want to be their father. I want to be that man. [When I die] I want people to say that that’s a strong African man, I am proud that he’s a part of my culture.”

We hope that renowned rapper Banner will soon find his ideal woman who he can marry as well as enjoy a happy life with his wife and children.

In September 2006, Congress testified his song From Imus to Industry: The Business of Stereotypes and Degrading Images, which was about racism and misogyny in hip hop music.

When he was questioned for his offensive language in hip-hop music, he argued and stood in the favor of it. He said,

 "Change the situation in my neighborhood and maybe I'll get better.”

In his opening statement, David told,

"I can admit there are some problems in hip hop but it is only a reflection of what's taking place in our society. Hip hop is sick because America is sick."
