Nolan Smith was born on July 25 1988 in Louisisana, Kentucky of parents Monica Smith and Late Derek Smith. His father , Derek Smith was a well known American perfessioanl basketball player and an a s sistant coach who died of a heart attack in a cruise near Bermuda.
Nolan attended The Key School in Maryland where he played basketball. Later he moved to St. John’s College High School located in Washington DC for his freshman season. While ther, Nolan went on to average 10.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.3 a s sists and 2.1 steals per game. During his soph 0re years, Nolan went on to play for Riverdale Baptist School in Upper Marlboro. He averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds, eight a s sists and 3 steals per game. Smith went on to attend Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson where he averaged 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 a s sists and two steals per game. In his senior year, Smith averaged 22.1 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 4.1 a s sists per game and 3.2 steals per game. For his college years, Nolan joined Duke University in 13th November 2006. In the 2007-2008 season, Nolan averaged 5.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 a s sists in 14.7 minutes per game in just 34 games. For his soph 0re years, Nolan went on to play in 34 games. In his junior year, Nolan played in 38 games.. Later in his senior year in 2010-2011, Nolan went on to average a total of 20.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.1 a s sists and 1.2 steals per game in just 37 games. He was finally drafted in the 2011 NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers as the 21st overall pick in the 1st round. Therefore his pro career as a shooting guard/Point guard began in 2011 with the Blazers. Nolan joined theBoston Celtics in July 2013 to play in the 2013 NBA Summer League where he played only one game and went on to score 4 points. In 2013 he was transferred to Idaho Stampede where he played a few games. In the same year, Nolan signed a one year contract with Cedevita Zagreb of the Croatian League. Then in Juily 2014., Nolan joined Oklahoma City Thunder to play for 2014 NbA Summer league where he went on to average 4.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.0 a s sists per game. He played only 5 games with Thunder. Later on 29th August 2014, Nolan signed a one year deal with Turkish Basketball League Galatasaray. Then on 26th November 2014 he went on to play for Delaware 87ers of the NBA development league. However he was waived off by them on 15th January 2015.
Not much is known to the media about Nolan’s personal life or about his dating history. He is entirely focused on playing basketball so he is currently single. He has not married till date and does not have any children.
Nolan is currently 26 years old , weighs 82 kgs and stands at the height of 6 feet 2 inches. According to 2012 data, his salary was 1.307 million USD. He has a tattoo of his father and the words ‘Forever Watching’ in his right arm. He was named McDonald’s All-American in 2007, ACC Player of the Year in 2011, Croatian League All Star in 2014.
