Lynne Russell, an American former journalist and author, was the first women to sole anchor a prime-time network nightly newscast, as the popular host of CNN Headline News from 1983-2001. 

Early Life and Education

Lynne Russell was born on 1st November 1946 in Orange, New Jersey, United States. She is a former author and journalist. She is better known for her work on CNN as well as on CNN Headline News.

Lynne Russell's father John Russell was a career army officer and Carmela Pasqualina Evangelista was a homemaker. She is of an American nationality and of white ethnicity.

Lynne went to the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she studied nursing. After when she could not balance her emotions with the study she quit school. After leaving the school she started doing a job where she wrote commercials for a radio station which is in Fort Collins, Colorado.  She graduated from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Career

 From the year 1983 to 2001 Lynne Russell has worked as a host in a prime-time network nightly newscast of CNN Headline News. In the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, she has worked as a reserve deputy while she was working at CNN. In May 2006, she was a newsreader on CBC News world. She has also a license of a private investigator.

Some days Lynn works as traffic with the gun and a bulletproof vest on and other days she works as a supervising road race. She also works as volunteer deputy sheriff by screening visitors as Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail.  She said once that, ‘Who wants to be safe all the time’? she also asked that ‘If you are afraid of everything, you won’t accomplish anything. I’m not saying this is a big achievement, but it’s big for me, and I’m having fun’.

Survived shootout

From Washington DC to California Lynne Russell with her husband, Chuck went on a cross-country trip. On 30th June 2015, the couple had spent the night at a Motel 6 which is in Albuquerque, New Mexico. During the time a man forced his way into their room and he shot Lynne’s husband three times. Chuck also returned fire and the intruder got wounded. Chuck then was rushed to the hospital and after two weeks of hospitalization, he got recovered.

Personal life

Lynne Russell has been married twice. Her first husband was Jim Dunlap and he was a disc jockey. The couple married in 1978. She has a son from her first husband named John who is one of her best friends.

Her second husband is Chuck De Caro. The couple tied the knot in 2014 but the couple has no child yet. Lynne Russell's husband is the president as well as a CEO of the Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Net Worth

Lynne has red hair and her eyes are black. She is a vegetarian and also meditates twice a day. She loves shopping shoes. Her net worth has not revealed. 

Her salary during her tenure at CNN could be about $300K-$400K per year checking the salary of other employees. She was very dedicated to her work as a result of which she remained in the network for those long years.
