Jerome Agyenim Boateng, commonly known as Jerome Boateng is German Footballer who was born on 3 September 1988. He was born in West Berlin in West Germany. Boateng currently plays for German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich. He holds number 20 shirt for his national side and holds number 17 jersey for his current team. This physically agile professional footballer holds duty in the defensive line of the pitch. He is primarily deployed as centre back while his versatile game play makes him capable of playing on either side as full back.

Standing strong on the field, Boateng has earned himself reputation as one of the best defender with tough-tackling capability and hardly acquires injury.

Career

Jerome Boateng started his career from the very early age. His career took action with the Tennis Borussia Berlin youth team. Later he joined Hertha BSC in 2002. He enriched his skill there and got unveiled for the reserves of Hertha BSC in 2006. Playing one season for the reserves, he made to the first team. His debut for the senior side came off on 31 January 2007 in the match against Hannober 96. He started as a regular player for his side from the very age of 18. Hamburger SV unveiled him in their outfit on 22 August 2007. The fee was supposed to be around 1.1 million Euros. Boateng had successful years at Hamburg. He signed 5 year deal with the club. His debut for the club was in friendly against Spanish club Valencia. He made total of 16 appearances for the English side. With City, he triumphed over 2010-11 FA Cup. With his prior desire of leaving the club, the German club Bayern Munich signed him at the fee of 13.5 million Euros in 14 July 2011. He continued wearing number 17 shirt for Bayern too. His debut came off on 27 July 2011 in the match against A.C. Milan in the course of Audi Cup. He was unveiled on the pitch as substitute for Rafinha. With Bayern Munich, he has achieved numbers of success and has been able to prove his footballing.

Jerome Boatend played for different age categories of German squad. He has made 4 appearances for Germany U17 side with 1 goal in his name. He made 17 appearances for Germany U19 and scored 2. He made 15 appearances for Germany U21 and scored once. Since 2009, he has been part of Germany’s senior side. He was also in the Germany’s delegation of 23 man squad led by Coach Joachim Low. Boateng has been able to earn numbers of achievements. During his stay at Manchester City, he won FA Cup in 2011. With Bayern, his trophy cabinet even got larger. His side won Bundesliga twice with him in 2012-13 and 2013-14. Boateng was part of Bayern squad that won DFB-Pokal twice in 2012-13 and 2013-14. His side won DFL-Supercup in 2012. Bayern triumphed over UEFA Champions League in 2012-13 with his participation. In 2013, his side won UEFA Super Cup too. They won FIFA Club World Cup in 2013.

In the international arena, he was part of Germany B-Junior U 17 Championship 2005 winning side. He was part of German U21 squad that won UEFA European Under 21 Football Championship in 2009. His side won bronze medal in Fritz-Walter-Medal tournament in 2007 in the Under 19 category. He was also the part of 3rd placed German squad if FIFA World Cup 2010.

Boateng’s father is from Ghana while his mother belongs to German ethnicity. His father’s name is Prince Boateng while his mother’s name is Christine Rahn. The other twins Boateng is also professional footballer and plays for the other Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 and Ghana national football team. Boateng is supposedly believed to be in relationship with Gina-Lisa Lohfink. There is something fascinating about him. He doesn’t drink alcohol.
