Early Life
Geddy Lee is of Canadian nationality who was born on the 29th of July, 1953. He was born in Willowdale, Ontario to parents Morris and Mary Weinrib. It has been known that his parents were survivors of the Jewish Holocaust. He grew up with his mother after his father died due to medical conditions and started playing music at the mere age of 10. He started playing professionally at high school dances and coffeehouses.
Career
He joined the rock band Rush on 1968 after replacing former member Jeff Jones. After joining Rush, the band went about on several tours and released albums like Farwell two Kings on 1977, Hemispheres on 1978, Permanent Waves on 1980 and Moving Pictures on 1981 which all became popular. His first solo album was named My Favorite Headache and it was released on 2000.
He has also been known to be the inspiration behind several rock musicians like Dream Theater, Metallica, Oron Maiden and much more. He has also been named to be the Officer of the Order of Canada along with his rush band mates for the contributions they have given to the industry of music. He has also been named in the 13th position of the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal vocalists of all time as ranked by Hit Parader. His acting endeavors include appearing in the appearance of himself in the episode of P.S. I Love You of the show How I Met Your Mother.
