Synopsis
Austin Nichols is an American actor and director. He was known for his role in the 2004 post apocalyptic thriller film, The Day After Tomorrow. He gained additional fame for his role in 'John from Cincinnati'. Besides, he is also known for his characters in the films 'The Day After Tomorrow' and 'Wimbledon'.
Early Life and Education
The famous actor, Austin Nichols was born on April 24, 1980, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the US, to a radiologist father, David Nichols, and Kay. Regarding his nationality and ethnicity, Austin is a White American actor. His family moved to Taxes when he was a year old. He was raised up there along with his older sister Ashely.
Austin’s mother Ann is a former professional trick water skier, ten times national champion and an international champion. He attended Casis Elementary school and started with water skiing at the age of two.
After that, Nichols was listed third in the world in skiing, when he was 13-year old. However, his trick water skier career came to a bitter halt when he injured his shoulder in a tournament in Florida. Following his recovery, he studied at McCallum High School and tried to play basketball but he wasn’t able to play as the injured shoulder didn’t allow him to compete with other players.
Nichols later moved to the University of South California and majored in English holding the degree in Bachelor of Arts. By that time he had developed a lot of acting and started to take acting lessons.

Austin Nichols began his acting career when he gate-crashed a party at the Sundance Film Festival and was signed by the manager. He first gained popularity after featuring the character of Brenda Chenowith’s love in two episodes of Six Feet Under. Later, Nichols featured the character of “frat boy” in The Utopian Society along with Malin Akerman.
Austin’s performance received several critical acclaims with numerous reviewers, praising him for being ‘stellar’ and ‘raw’. He appeared as a J.D., in the American climate science fiction disaster movie, ‘The Day After Tomorrow’.
Though his movie ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ received mixed reviews, the film grossed a huge box office collection of $125 million whereas the movie was budgeted $544.3 million. In the same year, Nichols also appeared in ‘Wimbledon’, opposite Paul Bettany and Kristen Dunst. The film received good critics, though it was only a mild success at the U.S. box office.
The movie’s producing cost was $31 million whereas the movie made a box office collection of $41.5 million.
Nichols also collaborated with Will Estes as Jack Kerouac, in the short film 'Luz del Mundo'. He carried on his works with TV in the following years and he featured in Deadwood, an HBO Western series, in April 2006.
He later featured in ‘Friday Night Lights’ in 2007 as well as also made his unusual appearance in ‘One Tree Hill’.
